USA Challenges Japan To A Giant Robot Duel... Japan Accepts! [Updated 7/6/15]

USA Challenges Japan To A Giant Robot Duel... Japan Accepts!

[Updated 7/6/15] *NEW*
Article via Forbes by Ollie Barder

Following the challenge laid down by American robot company MegaBots at the end of June, the Japanese company Suidobashi Heavy Industry has responded and it seems that a giant robot duel between the two companies is very much on.

The creator of the Kuratas mecha, Kogoro Kurata, has responded in a similarly themed video (shown below) where he berates the opposition’s rather basic and dumb design. Following up by emphasizing that giant robots are part of Japanese culture, so losing is by no means an option for him.

Of the two mecha, the MegaBots entry is indeed fairly simple but with that comes reliability. The Kuratas on the other hand has a lot of sophisticated visual tracking technology as well as motion mapped hand controls.

The Kuratas also has an entirely enclosed cockpit with cameras in the head relayed to screens inside. The design is also reminiscent of mecha from the anime Armored Trooper VOTOMS, especially that of the X-ATH-P-RSC Blood Sucker.

Considering that Kurata also wants to bring melee weapons to this fight, I’d say that the MegaBots crew has their work cut out for them.

While there is no word on a specific date for these two mecha to square off, the ball is now in the MegaBots court as they were the ones who instigated this challenge.
